Defending champions Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and SBM (Bengaluru) will be among the 50 teams to vie for honours in the 48th edition of the All-India YSCA Trophy cricket tournament, beginning May 1, here.

Apart from the two star-studded teams, which are likely to comprise several Ranji Trophy players and some featuring in the IPL were expected to be part of different squads later in the tournament, organising secretary M S Gurumurthy told reporters here.

The other prominent teams which would take part in the 30-overs-a-side tournament to be held during the weekends on a knockout-cum-super league basis were Indian Navy and BPCL (both Mumbai), BVT and Vijaya Bank (both Bangalore), he said.

Gurumurthy said conducting a cricket tournament spanning close to two months and involving 50 teams, including outstation ones, was not an easy task, that too without a break for the last 48 years, adding his passion for the game motivates him to do so.

After the knockout phase, the super league would be held on June 21, 22 and 23.

The semifinals would be held on June 24 and the final on June 25.
