Internationally-renowned as well as national-level shooters could soon be able to import not just one but two-three guns if the NRAI succeeds in implementing a new set of guidelines which is currently at the discussion stage, a top Indian marksman said.
"The NRAI is seriously discussing about some new notification that will help all national shooters to import 2-3 guns without paying duties," the shooter who has won medals at major world-level events, including multi-sporting extravaganzas, told PTI.
"The moment that guideline comes into place, not just the renowned but even those who have competed in just one nationals will be entitled to avail the benefit. That, I think, will be a very positive development for the sport," he added.

The NRAI was not very forthcoming when contacted, but it did disclose that plans are afoot to promote the sport at all levels, with special emphasis on grassroots.
"As far as that notification is concerned, you can say it is pending at the moment. Let's see how it works out," NRAI secretary Rajiv Bhatia said.
Around this time last year, with the London Olympics knocking at the door, the shooters were relieved of requiring an import license for procuring ammunitions from abroad.
The shooters were then told only the national championship certificates would be enough to get the ammunitions delivered to them.
