A small plane has gone down in the Atlantic Ocean in the Bahamas, but all five people on board are safe after spending several hours in a life raft.
The Bahamian government says the five were rescued by the Royal Bahamas Defense Force after their single engine Cessna went down late yesterday about 25 kilometers southeast of Nassau.
A government statement today reported that they were examined at a hospital in Nassau and released. All five are from the Bahamas. Their plane had taken off from Crooked Island.
A US Coast Guard air crew was called in to help with the search and spotted the five people floating on a life raft about 14 kilometers off Nassau.
