Andhra Pradesh government has convened an all-party meeting here on March 26 to discuss the fallout of the recent verdict of Supreme Court on the controversial Babli irrigation project built by neighbouring Maharashtra on river Godavari.
The government is seeking to elicit views of all political parties on the issue based on which its future course of action will be planned.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will chair the all-party meet.
"We will consider the objections and suggestions of all the parties and then decide whether or not to file a review petition in Supreme Court," the Chief Minister told reporters here this afternoon.
AP and Maharashtra were engaged in a legal as well as political battle for many years over the construction of Babli project that could store 7.5 TMC ft (Thousand Million Cubic Feet) of water.
The Maharashtra government went ahead with construction of the dam and also installed the crest gates despite objections raised by the Central Water Commission.
In its verdict delivered last month, the Supreme Court, however, permitted Maharashtra to complete the irrigation project and impound 2.74 TMC ft of water.
After the apex court's verdict went in favour of Maharashtra, the Chief Minister said there was "no loss to the state."
"On the face of it, there is no loss to the state in general and the farmers in particular. I have full trust in the Supreme Court's judgement," the Chief Minister had said on March 1.
