Punjab Cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said the state government will extend all possible help for setting up solar energy projects in the state.

He said that the state government has prepared a policy under which it shall provide clearances for solar projects through a single window mechanism within a period of 60 days of submitting the application.

The district administration has been directed to sort out any local issues involved in the project clearance, he said.

"The state government aims to fulfill domestic power requirements by installation of solar voltaic panels on the roof tops of the houses and will extend 70 per cent subsidy on the same," the minister said.

Majithia said 250 megawatt of solar projects have been set up in Punjab in a record time and 200 MW of power would be generated from the solar panels installed on the roof tops.
