All schools in Dima Haso district closed due to bad weather

Incessant rains accompanied by hail storm hit the state while the Dima Hasao district administration today ordered that all schools in the district be closed till the weather condition improves.

The rains also caused landslide and landslip in several places in Dima Hasao district headquarters of Haflong and many other places like Harangajao, N Leikul, Mahur and Phaiding for the past couple of days, the sources said.

The National Highway 54 connecting Haflong and Lumding in the district with Silchar in Cachar district was closed in many places today due to landslides.

In view of the bad weather condition including hailstorm, thunderstorm, landslide the district administration has closed all schools in Dima Hasao district till the weather condition improves and issued instruction to the public to remain vigilant and avoid travelling.
 

The railway services between Silchar-Lumding was not effected completely but in some place due to landslip, water logging in the rail tracks trains were were running late, railway sources said.

A teacher identified as Subrata Paul(45) drowned in Kapurchera under Harangjao police station while trying to cross a hilly river yesterday and his body was recovered today from Jatinga river in Harangajao in Dima Hasao district, official sources said.

According to a statement by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) Chief Executive Officer P K Tiwari, two persons had lost their life in Cachar district yesterday, while one was missing in Dima Hasao.
