Chief Justice of Allahabad High court, DY Chandrachud, today appealed to lawyers in Uttar Pradesh against going on strike to press their demands and said that any problems should be resolved through discussion.
With judicial work in courts across the state facing disruption since March 11 following the shooting of a young advocate inside a district court premises, Chandrachud said strikes were not a solution to any problem and that it was the responsibility of the legal system to provide early justice.
Welcoming the Muzaffarnagar District Bar Association's decision against going on a strike, he asked other district bar associations to follow that example.
Chandrachud also, meanwhile, inaugurated a video conferencing facility for district courts which would link them with district jails. The move will allow hearings to be done through video conferencing.
