Alleged child molester held in China

A British man wanted in his home country for allegedly raping a child was today detained in Beijing.

Neil Robinson, 46, is at present in police custody and is being investigated for illegally staying in China, according to a brief statement issued by the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

State-run Xinhua news agency quoted British media reports as saying that Robinson is allegedly wanted in connection with the distribution of indecent images of children and the rape of a child.

The statement from the bureau did not reveal any further details.
