An alleged contract killer wanted for several murders, including the killing of an Engineering College owner in Ghaziabad, has been arrested.

Yogesh (36), who belongs to Jhajjar district in Haryana, was held from Dwarka Sector 22 yesterday after receiving a tip off, Additional Commissioner of Police (South West) Anil Kumar Ojha said.

"An information was received that Yogesh had been residing in Dwarka.

"A trap was laid near Vardhman Mall in Sector 22 and he was nabbed. When police team tried to verify the identity, Yogesh tried to mislead the police by saying that he is Rajiv Malik and had nothing to do with the murder of Suresh Chand Gupta of Ghaziabad," Ojha said.

Uttar Pradesh police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest.

Yogesh told police that he had been residing in a flat of his friend in Dwarka for the last eight months.

During interrogation, Yogesh told police that he is a contract killer and had murdered Gupta, owner of Sunderdeep Engineering College Ghaziabad, after taking money.

In this connection, his two associates Vikas and Mukesh have already been arrested, but he managed to escape, the senior police officer said.

Yogesh also runs a school in Bahadurgarh, police said.
