A person, allegedly involved in crimes including murder, was arrested after an encounter with the police in Ganjam district today, a day after a similar arrest was made yesterday.
Ananta Narayan Patnaik (30) of College Chhaka in the Aska police station area was arrested after an exchange of fire with the police at Karanjai Chhaka, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Aska Subash Chandra Panda said.
While Patnaik suffered gun-shot injury on his right leg and admitted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, no police personnel was hurt in the encounter, he said.

Police seized a revolver, some ammunition and a motor-bike from his possession. However, one of his associates escaped from the spot, said inspector in-charge of Aska police station, Baleswar Gidhi.
It was the second encounter since yesterday. Police had arrested another notorious criminal Babu Nayak following an exchange of fire at Janibandha in Ganjam district yesterday.
