An Assistant Commissioner of Police here has been transferred following the allegation that two probationary police sub-inspectors and four constables extorted money from a Business Process Outsourcing owner.

"ACP of N Division, V D Gohil, has been transferred to Police Control Room," Joint Commissioner of Police Ajay Tomar said today.

Yesterday, Sunil Nagrani, who runs a BPO in Nehru Nagar area, registered a complaint against a probationary PSI with Satellite police station, another PSI who was not identified, and four police constables for extorting Rs 14 lakh.

"Probationary PSI P K Goswami was posted at Satellite police station...Four police constables have also been named in the FIR. Another unidentified PSI is also involved," inspector Ashok Pandya said.

Gohil is the ACP of N Division under which the Satellite police station comes.

Pandya said that searches could not be conducted at Goswami's house as it was locked. Efforts were on to trace him.

According to Nagrani, the policemen barged into his office at 11 on Monday night and demanded Rs 50 lakh, saying that he was conducting illegal activities in his office.

When he protested, they forcibly took away Rs 14 lakh from a drawer, his complaint states.

ACP J C Patel is investigating the case.
