A team of forest officials today captured an alligator from a pond in the city and released it into the Sharda river.

According to forest officials, the reptile had somehow managed to enter the water body in Awas Vikas locality of the city around a week back, creating panic and terror among locals, but it caused no harm to anybody.

The team of forest officials set a trap inside the pond and waited for the alligator, which was ultimately caught and safely released into the river, DFO (South) Sameer Verma said.
