Allot 2000 MW of power from KKNPP 3&4 units to TN: Minister

Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister P Thangamani today requested Union Minister of State for Power R K Singh to allot the 2,000MW of power that would be generated from third and fourth units of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.

Thangamani called Singh in New Delhi today and discussed about various power projects going on in the State.

During his brief interaction, he requested Singh to expedite the Cheyyur Ultra Mega Power project and also allot 2,000 MW of power that would be generated from the third and fourth units of Indo-Russian joint venture Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, an official release said.

The construction work of units three and four of KKNPP commenced on June 29 with the ceremonial pouring of concrete.
 

Thangamani requested Singh that an exclusive green corridor so that Tamil Nadu can sell the surplus power generated from the electricity board to other States.

He requested the Union Minister to sanction Rs 17,000 crore as subsidy to strengthen the power infrastructure ensuring adequate supply of power whenever natural calamities occur in the State.
