Almond rises on fresh buying

Almond prices rose by Rs 100 per 40 kg in the national capital today on the back of fresh buying by retailers and stockists amid fall in supplies from overseas markets.

Traders said increased demand from bulk consumers and depreciating rupee, which made imports costlier, mainly influenced almond prices.

Almond California rose by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 17,800 per 40 kg and its kernel prices traded higher at Rs 615-640 as compared with Rs 610-635 per kg, respectively.

The following were today's quotations (per 40 kg):

Almond (California) Rs 17,800 Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 8,300-8,500; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 4,600-4,900; Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-22,000.
 

Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 615-640 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 500-540 per kg.
