Almost all houses of a village gutted in fire

The fire, suspected to have originated from the kitchen of a villager, engulfed the entire village gutting all the houses inhabited by about 650 families.

Though five fire tenders from Kankadahada, Parjang, Kamakhyanagar, Talcher and Angul, were engaged to douse the fire, the situation could be controlled in five hours, said B N Mohanath, the sub-collector of Kamakhyanagar.

"A total of 1400 rooms belonging to 650 families have been completely destroyed in the fire incident. Five persons and three livestocks had sustained minor burn injuries," the sub-collector said.

Collector Bishnu Charan Panda and ADM Babaji Charan Das rushed to the affected village. "Relief materials are being provided to the affected families, the Collector said.
