Aluminium, copper strengthen on global cues

Prices of aluminium and copper strengthened by Re 1 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today largely on a firming global trend.

Traders said buying activity in aluminium picked up as it climbed in global markets after industrial production data from China improved from the weakest in more than six years.

Meanwhile, aluminium for delivery in three months climbed 0.2 per cent to USD 1,762.50 metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, aluminium ingots, sheet cutting, wire scrap and utensils scrap were up by Re 1 each at Rs 158, Rs 159, Rs 161 and Rs 158 per kg respectively.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg): Zinc ingot Rs 116-122, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,015-1,020, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 408, Chadri deshi Rs 285.

Lead ingot Rs 108, Lead imported Rs 109, Aluminium ingots Rs 158, Aluminium sheet cutting Rs 159, Aluminium wire scrap Rs 161 and Aluminium utensils scrap Rs 158.
