Aluminium prices went up by 0.64 per cent to Rs 149 per kg in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions following pick-up in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in October traded higher by 95 paise, or 0.64 per cent to Rs 149 per kg in business turnover of 31 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in September edged up by 70 paise, or 0.48 per cent to Rs 147.40 per kg in 667 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants on the back of rising demand from consuming industries in the physical market, led to rise in aluminium prices at futures trade.
