Aluminium futures extend gains on rising demand

Aluminium prices strengthened by 0.64 per cent to Rs 117.80 per kg in futures trading today as speculators engaged in enlarging their positions, tracking a firm trend at domestic spot market on strong demand from consuming industries.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in January month traded higher by 75 paise, or 0.64 per cent to Rs 117.80 per kg in business turnover of 325 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in December month contracts edged higher by 55 paise, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 118.85 per kg in 379 lots.

Analyast said raising of bets by participants on the back of rising demand from consuming industries in the physical market, mainly kept aluminium prices higher at futures trade.
