Aluminium prices edged up by 0.63 per cent to Rs 143.75 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions amid pick up in demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in February traded higher by 90 paise, or 0.63 per cent to Rs 143.75 per kg in business turnover of 173 lots.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in January was up by 85 paise, or 0.60 per cent to Rs 143.60 per kg in 447 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants due to upsurge in demand from consuming industries in the physical market mainly influenced aluminium prices at futures trade.
