Aluminium gains by 0.2% on overseas cues

Participants widened positions amid a firming trend overseas

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Aluminium prices edged up by 25 paise to Rs 111.10 per kg in futures trade today as participants widened positions amid a firming trend overseas.

Strong demand in the spot market also influenced metal prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in May inched up 25 paise, or 0.23%, to Rs 111.10 per kg in a business turnover of 49 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in June traded higher by 20 paise, or 0.18%, to Rs 112.70 per kg in 6 lots.

Marketmen said that apart from increased domestic demand, a firming trend in global markets ahead of data expected to signal a slight upturn in factory activity in China, the world's biggest consumer of metals, helped aluminium futures trade higher.
