Aluminium up 0.6% on spot demand

Metal for delivery in June traded higher by 0.27%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Aluminium prices edged up by 70 paise to Rs 113.20 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions amid a firming trend at spot markets on strong demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in July inched up by 70 paise or 0.62 per cent to Rs 113.20 per kg in a business turnover of one lot.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in June traded higher by 30 paise or 0.27 per cent to Rs 111.30 per kg in 125 lots.

Marketmen said apart from increased domestic demand, covering-up of short positions by speculators, helped aluminium futures to trade higher.

However, a weak trend in the base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange, limited the gains, they said.
