Aluminium futures rise 0.72% on firming spot demand

Aluminium prices moved up by 0.72 per cent to Rs 159.80 per kg in futures market today as speculators enlarged their positions amid soaring demand at the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in May month rose by Rs 1.15, or 0.72 per cent to Rs 159.80 per kg in business turnover of 397 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in June contract was enquiring higher by 95 paise, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 159.60 per kg in 11 lots.

Analysts said expanding of positions by participants due to pick up in demand from industries in the physical market mainly led to the rise in aluminium prices at futures trade.
