Aluminium prices today rose 0.40 per cent to Rs 99.25 per kg in futures trade, taking positive cues from global market as speculators widened positions.

Moreover, increased demand at domestic spot markets also influenced prices.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in current month was trading higher by 40 paise, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 99.25 per kg in business turnover of 239 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February traded higher by 30 paise, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 100.15 per kg in 3 lots.

Marketmen said the rise in aluminium prices in futures trade was mostly attributed to a firming trend in industrial metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and pick up in demand at domestic spot markets.
