Aluminium up by 0.5% on spot demand

Speculators enlarged positions amid pick-up in demand at spot markets

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Aluminium prices today rose 0.53% to Rs 114.25 per kg in futures trade, taking positive cues from global market as speculators enlarged positions.

Besides, increased demand at domestic spot markets also influenced prices.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in June rose 60 paise, or 0.53%, to Rs 114.25 per kg in business turnover of 25 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in May traded higher by 50 paise, or 0.45%, to Rs 112.35 per kg in 326 lots.

Analysts said the rise in aluminium prices in futures trade was mostly attributed to a firming trend in industrial metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) as manufacturing data from China, the world's biggest consumer, signalled the first improvement in three months.
