Aluminium rises on global cues

Aluminium prices were higher by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today on stockists buying, tracking a firm global trend.

Traders said buying activity in aluminium picked up after metal strengthened in global markets as stockpiles fell and industrial data showed an improved demand outlook in China, the world's largest consumer of metals.

Meanwhile, aluminium for delivery in three months advanced 1.1 per cent to USD 2,019 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, aluminium ingot, sheet cutting, wire scrap and utensils were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 159, Rs 160, Rs 162 and Rs 159 per kg respectively.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot 115-121, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,086-1,092, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 436, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 115, Lead imported 113, Aluminium ingots 159, Aluminium sheet cutting 160, Aluminium wire scrap 162 and Aluminium utensils scrap 159.
