Senior Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh today sought a probe into the "lapse" by the Punjab government in not passing on the intelligence input, about possible terror attack received from the Centre to the relevant quarters.
"Had the intelligence input been passed on, the damage caused by the terror attack in Dinanagar may have been averted or at least minimised and the police in the police station would not have been caught unawares," the former Punjab Chief Minister said here.
Addressing a public rally organised by the local MLA and PCC vice president Kewal Singh Dhillon here Amarinder alleged that there was a serious lapse on part of the Punjab government which it was trying to hide now.

When asked whether Punjab DGP was lying about it, he said, "maybe he actually did not receive any input and that is why I am asking for a thorough probe so that the lapse is identified and the accountability fixed in order to ensure that such lapses are not allowed in future".
The Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar maintained that this was characteristic of the Badal government which had been hit by total "inertia" and it was not able to take any action. He said the "inertia and policy paralysis" is hitting the state at all levels.
"Industry is winding up here and going to other states, law and order is at its worst and the unemployment has touched all time high", he pointed out, while adding, such situations give rise to social unrest.
He asked as what had happened to the Shagun Scheme, old age pension, handicap pension, and Atta-Dal scheme.
He took a jibe at the Chief Minister for claiming that Shagun would be provided one month in advance.
"People have not got the Shagun money for six months and here is the Chief Minister who is lying and telling us that it will be provided one month in advance", he claimed.
Later, Amarinder said that the state BJP President Kamal Sharma must resign from his post till he is not exonerated of the charges being levelled against him by his own party men.
