Amarjit Singh Samra takes over as Markfed chairman

Amarjit Singh Samra, a former Punjab minister, today took over as chairman of cooperative federation Markfed.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh felicitated Samra on his appointment as chairman of the Asia's largest cooperative federation, a release said.

Samra had served as Markfed chairman earlier too on two occasions, from July 1992 to July 1994, and March 1996 to August 1998.

He was revenue and rehabilitation minister with additional charge of agriculture in the earlier Amarinder Singh-led government in 2002. He had been MLA from Nakodar constituency for four consecutive terms.
