Amarnath pilgrims protest against lack of facilities in Jammu

A group of Amarnath pilgrims today staged a protest against the authorities for not providing proper facilities to them.

The pilgrims, who had visited the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar here, raised slogans against the authorities for not making adequate arrangements for their registration and stay in Jammu.

The pilgrims complained that they were being sent from one place to another for registration purpose since yesterday and they could not find the concerned officials.

The authorities have not also made adequate arrangements for their stay in the city for onward journey to the cave shrine of Amarnath, the pilgrims, who had come from different parts of the country, alleged.
 

Meanwhile, the state unit of Shri Ram Sena (SRS) has expressed concern over the poor arrangements for pilgrims at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here.

SRS president Rajiv Mahajan urged the government to ensure all facilities including registration, medical check-up to pilgrims under one roof at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp, a release issued by the outfit said.

Mahajan appealed to the government and the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to depute officials for making adequate arrangements for the pilgrims of the yatra commencing on June 28.
