"We hope better sense will prevail and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Governor N N Vohra will restore the original time table of the yatra.

Weather cannot be an excuse (for curtailing the yarta duration), it is a sham excuse and a clear indication that the government was acting at the behest of anti-India forces...The Governor must reply whether he is being pressurised to work at the behest of separatist forces," said Vijay, who along with another BJP MP J P Nadda, today courted arrest in protest against curtailing the yatra duration.

Meanwhile, pilgrims continued their protest against Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and Vohra, who is also the chairman of the Board, for the second consecutive day and burned his effigy.

Around 150 agitators, including JK BJP chief Shamsher Singh Manhas, courted arrest.

They reiterated that the government extend the duration of the yatra to two months starting from Jayeshth Purnima tomorrow, instead of the stipulated 39 days as fixed by SASB.

SASB had cited bad road and inclement weather as the reasons behind the decision to curtail the yatra duration.
