Kashi Ram, 65, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was found dead inside a tent at Baltal base camp this morning, a police spokesman said, adding that the cause of death has not been ascertained as of now.

The spokesman said 66-year-old Kamaljeet Singh, hailing from Punjab, died after he fell down from a horse at Sangam top enroute to the cave yesterday.

Singh was returning to the base camp after visiting the cave shrine when he fell down from horseback and died on-the-spot, he said.

Jharkhand-resident Krishan Lal died of cardiac arrest at Panjtarni camp on the traditional Pahalgam-cave route in Anantnag district last night, the spokesman said.

With these, the death toll in the ongoing yatra has reached 12 since the pilgrimage began on June 25.

So far, 87,000 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the shrine, housing the naturally formed ice-shivlingam.
