After remaining suspended for the last two days, the Amarnath yatra today resumed with a batch of 255 pilgrims leaving from here to the cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.

The yatra was suspended due to bad weather conditions from Jammu on August 15.

As many as 255 pilgrims today left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here to pay obeisance at the Ice-Lingam, police officials said, adding that the batch consisted of 145 men, 30 women, eight children and 72 sadhus.

They said that a convoy of seven vehicles, carrying the devotees, left the Yatri Niwas at around 4:55 AM.

Yatra was earlier suspended for three days in the wake of communal clashes and curfew in areas of Jammu region and had resumed on August 13.
