Govt asks CIPET to start plastic waste management consultancy
* The government has directed the Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) to start a plastic waste management consultancy to provide guidance on managing the plastic waste.
The functioning of CIPET was discussed in a consultative committee meeting of Members of Parliament held here today, an official release said.
The CIPET will set up a mobile exhibition which will go around the country informing people about the plastics use and its waste management. CIPET will also undertake hand holding and training for rag pickers.
Besides, a National Institute of Plastic Research will be set up to undertake research in various fields particularly those relating to use of plastics in agriculture and common man's life, Fertiliser Minister Ananth Kumar said.
To overcome the loss inflicted to CIPET due to severe floods in Chennai recently, the Minister assured all support for its rehabilitation in the shortest possible time.

MIMS, Aster DM Healthcare to consolidate operations * The Malabar Institute of Medical Science (MIMS) and Dubai-based Aster DM Healthcare are planning to integrate their operations.

Idea Cellular today said it has shared 2,450 GB of data with NGOs 'Room to Read' and 'SARD' as part of its Easy Share Campaign.

Indus Towers collaborates with Gurgaon traffic police * Tower firm Indus Towers today announced its association with Gurgaon Traffic Police to ensure road safety by disbursing 4,000 traffic cones.

HDFC Bank launches missed call mobile recharge * HDFC Bank today announced the launch of missed call mobile recharge which will help customers getting their prepaid mobile recharge without visiting any shop or app.
Further, customers can also add his family or friends to avail of the missed call mobile recharge service, HDFC Bank said in a statement.
This service allows the Bank to tap into an estimated 900 million pre-paid mobile customers which includes approximately 84 per cent smartphone users and 92 per cent feature phone users.
TCS bags deal from Sweden's Lansforsakringar Bank
* Country's largest software services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today said Sweden's Lansforsakringar Bank has selected its BaNCS platform.
In addition, TCS will also provide system integration and support services to ensure a smooth transition for the Bank's current environment, TCS said in a statement.
No financial details were not disclosed.
Present in the Nordic region since 1991, TCS has around 9,000 professionals working in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and across its Global Network Delivery Model, servicing leading Nordic companies.
In another statement, TCS said it has set up a new office in Toronto as a hub for technical innovation and partner collaboration.
The facility, spread over 50,000 sq ft, will help TCS Canada serve more than a 100 large Canadian enterprises from coast-to-coast. It also has additional offices in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

Xiaomi announces new 'Mi Ecosystem' sub-brand * Chinese tech giant Xiaomi announced today announced a new sub-brand 'Mi Ecosystem' for a range of products manufactured by Xiaomi's ecosystem partners.
Under the new sub-brand, Xiaomi has introduced the 'Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker' for RMB 999, which is less than 40 per cent the price of comparable high-end Japanese induction heating pressure rice cookers.
"To build the Mi Ecosystem, Xiaomi has so far invested in 55 companies that design and manufacture products beyond its three core product categories: smartphones, smart TVs and smart routers," Xiaomi said.
Among these, 29 companies including Zhimi (which makes the Mi Air Purifier) and Viomi (which makes the Mi Water Purifier) have been incubated by Xiaomi from their founding.
To date, over 20 Mi Ecosystem companies have launched products.
