The facility will support Amazon.in and Amazon.com with pre- and post-order customer service

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Global e-commerce major Amazon today said it has opened its third customer service facility in India in Pune with an eye on improving online shopping experience of its customers in the country.

Amazon had set up its first customer service facility in Hyderabad in 2005, followed by another in the same city last year.

The facility will support Amazon.in and Amazon.com with pre- and post-order customer service through various mediums like e-mail, chat, phone and social media, Amazon said in a statement.

No investment details were disclosed.

"It will also host teams that provide support to Amazon's operations in India in the form of training, workflow etc and will help create employment for hundreds in Pune," it said.

"Pune is a fast-growing, vibrant and young city with a great talent pool, infrastructure and growth potential... The Pune customer service facility will augment our capabilities to serve our customers better and enable Amazon to deliver consistently high levels of customer experience," Amazon India Director Human Resources Raj Raghavan said.

Last year, Amazon had committed an investment of USD 2 billion (over Rs 12,000 crore) in India to expand its business. It faces strong competition from the likes of Flipkart, Snapdeal and many other small e-tailers in the country.
