Delhi Congress today announced to celebrate the birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar throughout the year and said his thinking and vision should become a guiding light to the people.

During an event held on the occasion at Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office, DPCC chief Ajay Maken said Ambedkar's ideology should reach every household as it has become necessary for the people to fully understand his vision and thinking which have survived the test of time.

"The ideology of Ambedkar should reach every household, as his thinking and vision have survived the test of time to be a guiding light to the people. Ambedkar Jayanti (anniversary) would be celebrated in Delhi throughout the year," Maken said addressing a gathering of party office-bearers and functionaries at the office.

Stressing that it has become necessary for people to fully understand ideology and thinking of Ambedkar, Maken said he had always stood for a just society, where everyone would get equal opportunity to prosper in life.

"Ambedkar was a 'Yug Purush', a true visionary, who would have a unique place in the history of the country, as he had worked hard to empower Dalits and the downtrodden with many special powers in the Constitution. Congress would spare no effort to popularise his ideology and thinking among people," he said.
