Ambedkar Samajbhushan awards to be announced soon

Maharashtra social justice minister Rajkumar Badole today said that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Samaj-bhushan awards will be distributed in Mumbai on May 6 to a total of 51 people and 10 social organisations.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would be attending the function.

"We will announce the names of recipients in the next two days. Individuals will receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and social organisations Rs 25,000 each," he said.

A special award, named 'Babasaheb Samata-bhushan award', would be given away to mark Dr Ambedkar's 125th birth anniversary. It will be given to five persons who have done exceptional social work and comprise a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each.
 

Badole also said that the state government will give fellowships to PhD and MPhil students from this year.

"Fifty students will get fellowships every year. Of these, three will be reserved for disabled women from scheduled castes," he said.

For MPhil students, the amount of fellowship would be Rs 25,000 per month for two years. The PhD students would get Rs 28,000 per month for three years.
