Press Trust of India Nagpur
Congress leader Nitin Raut today accused Dalit leaders who have joined saffron parties of deflecting from the principles Babasaheb Ambedkar, saying the social reformer had spent his entire life fighting against such outfits.

"Dr Ambedkar very clearly said about political alliances and said that Dalits should not allign with Hindu Mahasabha or Rashtriya Swaayamsewak Sangh (RSS)," Raut told at a press conference here today.

Quoting chapters 17 and 18 of the Maharashtra government published book 'Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar', Raut said Ambedkar had mentioned that saffron political parties are likely to pose a threat to individual freedom and work against the democratic set up of the country, and hence should not be considered for political alliances.

Coming down heavily against LJP's Ramvilas Paswan and RPI's Ramdas Athwale, Raut said that probably they have parted ways with the Ambedkarite movement and given up his principles.
