Residents of a housing society of realty firm Amrapali in Noida have taken to social media asking Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni to dis-associate himself as its brand ambassador, forcing the company to promise completion of pending work at the project.

The first phase of project 'Sapphire' at Noida Sector 45, which was launched in 2009, has been completed and about 800 families have moved in out of 1,000 flats but civil and electrical work in many towers have not been completed, the residents claimed.

Stating that their demands were not being addressed by the management, the residents said they had started tagging Dhoni on twitter with #AmrapaliMisuseDhoni earlier this week.

Tagging Dhoni on his twitter handle, many residents asked the Indian cricket captain to dis-associate himself from the company, while several requested him to pressurise Amrapali group to complete the pending work.

Meanwhile, Amrapali group in a statement said: "the issue discussed over the twitter is nothing and the things have been blown out of the proportion. All the basic facilities and amenities are working."

"Though there are certain drawbacks which hardly comprises of 4-5 per cent of total project which shall be completed in next 90 days."

Residents claimed that the civil and electrical work in many towers have not been completed.

"The electrical panels are open, wires are hanging, firefighting equipment, sprinklers and alarms are not functional. There is no maintenance staff for lifts, and neither lift operators. The swimming pool has not been made operational," the residents' association said in a statement.

Residents claimed that two senior officials of Amrapali Group, Executive Director Shivpriya and N Mukul, held a meeting with the residents.

The officials, according to the residents, promised that "all pending work will be completed in next 90 days and within the same period registry will also be done".

They requested the residents to stop the twitter campaign using Dhoni, they said, however, adding they would continue the campaign till the work is completed.

On the registration process, Amrapali said, "Things have been delayed from the authority side because there was stay from NGT, which got cleared only couples of months back. So now, we are expecting the registration process will start in next 2-3 months.
