Amrita Mukherjee in final round qualifiers

Seeded seventh in the qualifiers, Amrita Mukherjee went through a harrowing time to down Preethi Ujjini 2-6 6-1 6-3 and enter the final qualifying round of the USD 25,000 Endurance Aurangabad Open Women's ITF Tennis Championships here today.

In another all-India match that went the distance, Sindhu Janagam battled past Sharmeen Rizvi 5-7 6-3 6-4, while in another match eighth-seeded Sneha Padamata won the first set 7-5 and trailed 1-4 before her rival Aranxta Andrady pulled out citing injury.

Eight players will make it to the main draw, starting Monday, from the qualifying rounds ending tomorrow.

Tournament Director, Varsha Jain, has announced that wild cards for the main draw have been awarded to Rashmi Teltumbde, Vaishnavi Peddi Reddy, Natasha Palha and Dhruti Venugopal by the All India Tennis Association.
