Amrita University here has emerged as the only private university from India to find a place in the prestigious Times Higher Education ranking of Top 200 universities from the BRICS and emerging economies.
Amrita occupies the 15th position among the only 16 Indian educational institutes to figure in the list, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Indian Institute of Science, seven IITs, Delhi University, Jadavpur University, Punjab University and the University of Calcutta, Vice Chancellor, Amrith Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita Univerity) Dr P Venkat Rangan said in release, today.
Overall, Amrita University has been ranked 181 among the best 200 universities from Asian, African, South American and European nations such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, Chile and Colombia, he said.

This achievement, which comes only 12 years after the Amrita University was founded, is a huge validation of the leadership and vision of our Chancellor Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (popularly called Amma), the founder and Chancellor.
The university is spread across five campuses in three states of India - Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with the University headquarters at Ettimadai, here.
