Amritsar coldest place in Punjab at 5 deg C

Amritsar was the coldest place in Punjab today even as minimum temperatures dropped by a few notches in other parts of the state and neighbouring Haryana.

Amritsar recorded a low of 5 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.

Ludhiana's minimum settled at 5.7 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal, the MeT Department report said.

Residents of Patiala also experienced a cold night as the temperature plummeted to 7.6 degrees C.

In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest place recording a minimum of 5.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.

Hisar recorded a low of 6.3 degrees Celsius, down two notches while Karnal's minimum settled at 7 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
 

Ambala recorded a low of 7.8 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh's minimum settled at 7 degrees C.
