In a letter addressed to Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, state BJP executive member Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said 'The city of Golden Temple' lacks "basic amenities including proper sewerage system, uninterrupted water supply, proper traffic system".

"Cleanliness is still a distant dream for the residents," he said.

Chhina, who is also Punjab Small Scale Industries and Export Corporation Chairman, asked Badal to implement the integrated master plan for Amritsar on priority basis.

"Sukhbir Badal had unveiled Amritsar Master Plan at a high-level meeting at Chandigarh in 2010 but little work has been done at the ground level," Chhina said.

"The city's rising population and future needs are not being taken care of. It is writhing under problems and common man's life is becoming miserable as law and order is worsening and traffic management is missing," he said.
