Searing heat wave was back at several places in Punjab and Haryana today as sultry weather gripped the two states in the absence of any major rainfall activity after the onset of monsoon eight days ago.
Holy city Amritsar in Punjab was the hottest place in the region sizzling at 43.8 degree Celsius, six notches above normal, the weather office said.
Bhiwani, Hisar and Narnaul in Haryana sweated it out as the maximum temperatures breached the 42 degree mark.

Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab recorded above normal day temperatures of 38.2 and 38.1 degrees respectively.
Chandigarh, which received light rains in the evening, recorded a high of 36.4 degrees as the MeT office forecast light to moderate showers in the region in the next couple of days.
