Amte, Panda win Medscape awards

While Dr Vikas Amte won the award in the category of social contribution in health care, Dr Panda won in the category of excellence in cardiology and cardiac surgery.

Medscape is the umbrella body of 21 medical institutions.

The Tata Memorial hospital won in the category of excellence in hospital administration. Awards were given away recently by dignitaries, including JJ Hospital Dean Dr T P Lahane, a release said.

Top honours were awarded in 20 categories at the ceremony hosted by founder president of Medscape India, Dr Sunita Dube.

Maharashtra Public Health Minister Suresh Shetty, who was present on the occasion, spoke about the recent cases of female foeticides in Beed district and the challenges faced by the medical fraternity, the release added.
