A medical relief team, consisting of 10 doctors, was today sent by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for the flood-affected people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The team, headed by Dr Qasim Rizvi and including 10 doctors from Nehru Medical college, AMU, is equipped with a large consignment of medicines and other relief material for providing immediate medical assistance, Pro Vice Chancellor Retd Brigadier Ahmad Ali said.
The Aligarh Drug and Pharmacists Association has also donated medicines worth more than Rs one lakh for relief work.

Earlier, AMU vice chancellor Retd Lt General Zamiruddin Shah had issued an appeal to all AMU teaching and non-teaching staff to donate one-day's salary to the flood relief fund.
Some student bodies at the university, including the Sir Syed Foundation, have urged the AMU authorities to cancel the Annual Sir Syed Day Dinner scheduled for October 17 and divert the funds of this annual event for flood victims.
