The notice has been issued following the submission of an enquiry report, ordered by Vice-Chancellor Lt Gen (Retd) Zameeruddin Shah on June 16, in the wake of public outcry over the incident.
Established in 1962, JNM College is affiliated under the Faculty of Medicine with Aligarh Muslim University.
Beg, who was the consultant in-charge of the case, has been given three days to respond to the above show cause notice, official sources said.
Junior doctor Adil, whose alleged negligence led to the death of the patient due to internal hemorrhage, is facing a police case on the basis of a complaint filed by family members of the deceased.
Syed Pervez Ali, who was also an employee of the University, died at the hospital on June 16 shortly before he was to be discharged following his recovery from a road accident on May 24.
In their complaint to the police, members of the deceased's family charged the junior doctor of negligence in removing a surgical tube from the victim's body which led to the haemorrhage causing death.
The University Employees' Association had threatened to go on strike if action was not taken in this matter.
