AMU VC suspends doc, nursing staff after student dies of

A junior doctor and a nursing staff of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital were suspended by the Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor for their alleged negligence in treatment of a varsity student, who died of dengue.

AMU VC Lt General (retd) Zamiruddin Shah has also setup a three-member committee to probe the incident, an AMU official said today.

Sabir Hussain, a final year engineering student from Ghazipur district, died yesterday morning at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital. He was hospitalised on Saturday, he said.

His father has alleged he died due to negligence by doctor and medical staff, the official said.
 

Presently, 12 other students are admitted with dengue at the hospital.
