"Amy", "The Hunting Ground", "The Look of Silence", "Meru" and "Something Better to Come" have been nominated by the Producers Guild of America (PGA) for the top documentary award.
The winner will be named on January 23 at the PGA's award ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, reported Variety online.
Asif Kapadia's Amy Winehouse documentary "Amy", which released in July and has earned USD 8.3 million, making it one of the top 25 grossing docs of all time in the US.

Meanwhile, mountain-climbing doc "Meru", a chronicle of the first ascent of a dangerous peak in the Himalayas, has reeled in USD 2.3 million since its release in August by Music Box.
