"Amy", which has earned rave reviews since premiering at Cannes, has recorded the biggest ever opening weekend for a British documentary in the UK and the second biggest of all time.
The film, directed by Asif Kapadia, opened over a remarkably sunny UK weekend in 133 cinema from July 10 that will expand to over 200, reported Guardian online.
Whereas, the Winehouse documentary opened with USD 222,015 across six sites, with a location average of USD 37,002 - USD 10,000 more than what "Fahrenheit 9/11" managed on its first weekend.
The film will expand nationwide in the US on July 10.
