Anand Pawar reach semifinals of Brazil Grand Prix

Indian shuttler Anand Pawar stormed into the semifinals of the Brazil Open Grand Prix after defeating Canada's B R Sankeerth in the men's singles competition here today.

Fourth seed Pawar, who is the only Indian competing in men's singles, thrashed Sankeerth 21-8 21-10 in a lop-sided 39-minute match to set up a clash with second seed Misha Zilberman of Israel.

In mixed doubles, top seeds Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy will take on Brazil's Matheus Voigt and Bianca De Oliveira Lima to earn a place in the semifinals.

Men's doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy and women's singles player Saili Rane had withdrawn from the tournament.
