Anand Sharma, Vora appear in court to give bail bonds

Congress leaders Anand Sharma and Motilal Vora today appeared before Chief Judicial Magistrate here and furnished collateral bail bonds in a 2002 defamation case filed against them by former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P K Dhumal.

The two leaders had reportedly accused BJP leader Dhumal, the then Chief Minister in 2002, of amassing assets through "corrupt" means.

Sharma, Deputy Leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha and Vora, AICC Treasurer, appeared before CJM Ranjit Singh along with their counsels and furnished collateral security bond under section 437.

The CJM adjourned the case and fixed the next hearing for December 10, 2015.
 

Advocate Ajay Sharma appeared for Dhumal, who had filed two separate defamation complaints, one against Vora and Amarinder Singh and the other against Anand Sharma. Laterboth the cases were examined for testimony after clubbing them.

Amarinder Singh, former Punjab Chief Minister who was also accused along with Vora, has already been dischargedby the court after he tendered an apology.

The case pertains to 2002 when Sharma, Voraand Amarinder Singh allegedly made "defamatory" remarks.
